Short new release slate led by new version of Polyphony Digital's racing game; Amy scares PSN; Saints Row: The Third, Gears of War 3 DLC due on Tuesday.
Last week's decidedly short new release slate offered gamers downloadable titles Amy (for the PC and Xbox 360), Zen Pinball 3D, and Choplifter HD. This week's new software list isn't much longer, but it does feature one notable retail release: the Gran Turismo 5: XL Edition.
The new iteration of the 2010 racing game includes the title, all Spec 2.0 updates, and a voucher good for five downloadable content packs. The included DLC packs are the Racing Car Pack, Car Pack 2, Course Pack, Racing Gear Pack, and Paint Pack. Additionally, the XL Edition includes a reversible inside cover sheet emblazoned with the Red Bull X2011 vehicle.
Gamers looking to add to their copies of Gears of War 3 can pick up the $10 Fenix Rising Map Pack on Tuesday. In addition to five new battlegrounds for the game's various multiplayer modes, the Fenix Rising downloadable content includes a new experience system that allows players who max out their levels to reset their rank and "re-up" for another tour of duty.
If they can max out their levels multiple times like this, players will be able to earn new weapon skins unobtainable through other means. Finally, the add-on includes four new character skins, including Gear recruit Clayton, as well as Cole Train in a Thrashball uniform. There are also savage marauder and kantu skins available.
Also out this week on the PlayStation Network is horror game Amy, which was released last week on Xbox Live and for the PC. The game is set after a comet crashes into Earth, releasing a disease that spreads to the populace. Players control a woman named Lara, working alongside an 8-year-old autistic girl named Amy to escape the horde of infected.
Another new digital ware gamers can grab this week is the Genki Bowl VII add-on for Saints Row: The Third. The first piece of DLC for the sandbox game, Genki Bowl VII includes new missions, outfits, and vehicles. It will be available on Tuesday for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
